It has been a very long time since I have had anything to post to these pages. With the death of Warhammer Fantasy plus an increase in work commitments meant that naturally something had to syffer, and thus was my hobby.
But before work gets intense again, I have something to post up. It was over a year and a half ago that I painted the first Veteran Sgt, and now I am pleased that I can field a fully painted veteran unit fro heresy games or Sternguard Veterans for 40k.
Here are the pics. Keep in mind this is with a new set up, so my painting looks horrible, but at least they are done. A year and a half is along time to paint a unit!
I am happy with the finished piece, and will be even happier if I can keep on going. I did recently have a 30k game, so I will hopefully find time to post that later this week.
As for what I am working on next, preferably something that will not take as long, an apothecary.
Since it is undercoated white, perhaps that will mean a quicker turnaround!
Thanks for looking (if there still is anyone!)
Cheers!

Crawling back some motivation...
Apologies for the long hiatus! Work has been hectic this last month, so much so, that even my birthday could not take me from its embrace. Still, nearly on holidays so its time to try and get some hobby done. I realise that Warhammer Fantasy has essentially ceased to be, but I really like 8th, and I'm not liking the models, look or feel of the new Age of Sigmar, so I'd really like to keep playing 8th.
I've played Warhammer Fantasy from 3rd to 8th Edition, and really do find that 8th was the most fun for me. The End Times was interesting, though I thought they should have played it out longer, instead of rushing through it. Ahh well, its not going to stop me from playing on inthe Old World.
Anyways, slight rant aside, I have been painting some Empire. I have a few 8th Ed games coming up, and I wanted to try out the good old Empire. I haven't got any close up's as of yet, simply due to laziness, though I do have a selection of models to show off. Best thing is, they are all very old metal models. The best kind!
The force as is on a dark, small shelf.
A better lit angle.
Some old Reiksguard on foot. I have 25, so I might use them either as Swordsmen or Greatswords. Not too sure.
Some old metal archers, and the new cool model of the Witch Hunter. Figure it would be fun for them to run around.
Again, some old metal crossbows. The models did not come with the crossbows, so I think I got some historical metal crossbows from Foundry, as I had heard they fit perfectly. Which they do by the way. Of course I have a Bright Wizard there as well. The fact he is on fire (literally) appealed to me. Plus I can say all the Firebat lines from Starcraft as I play. Bonus.
A nice big unit of Knights Panther, my favourite and the most iconic unit for the Empire in my opinion. I have painted up a mounted BSB in the form of the new Ludwig Schwartshelm, and of course a mounted general in the guise of Valten. This unit is a nice 15 models strong, which is a good start I think.
I'll endeavour to get some close pics of the characters I have painted recently. I'm trying to get the Knights Panther a bit more presentable before their debut match this Saturday.
Thanks for looking!

Blood in the Badlands Campaign conclusion
I have certainly been idle for quite some time, mainly due to life. I figured I would post up some photo's from the conclusion game of our Blood in the Badlands Campaign. We decided to just have an all on all Triumph and Treachery game, with Gav and I having an addition 100pts (I think) for the extra territory we had on the map. We played this game 5 months ago, so I do appolgise, I just got too busy!
Anyways, you can at least look at the action and I'll leave a belated conclusion at the end.
My friend Cail's beautifully painted Night Goblins engage the spectral Undead.
My lovely gyrocopters fly around, attempting to be a menace.
Fanatics make short work of it though...
Good ol Dwarf movement is quite limited.
30 odd Longbeards stare down the Night Goblin Deathstar with Skarsnik and lots of Big Bosses with Great Weapons.
I lost a lot of Longbeards it seems, though I didn't break. They broke apart due to another fight being fought.
The Lizardmen sally forth!
I do recall my Longbeards staring them down for a very long time!
Hammerers with Grimwald the Surly smash into the Saurus. I believe they killed a lot, then ran them down. Either way, this was game at this point.
A very enjoyable conclusion to the end of the Campaign. Gav with his Undead came away with the game so very well done to him. I believe I was second as I had only 50 to 100 points down on him so close! Ahh well, perhaps next time.
Thanks for looking!

Captain of the Imperial Fists 5th Company, Master of the Marches. Brother Captain Lachdannan.
Captain Lachdannan has been in active service for 128 Terran years. Recruited on the Hive World of Necromunda, Lachdannan established himself as a competent marksman in the ranks of 10th Company. His first engagement saw him and his squad pitted against the Traitor Iron Warriors Legion on the agri world Cernunnos. Against insurmountable odds, Lachdannan alone was the sole survivor of his squad after their recon mission, having successfully sabotaged and blown a dam onto the Traitor Legion's supply line.
It was in his 7th year as a full fledged marine that he earned the Marksmanship honour for eliminating a mob of Nobz in defence of the citizens of Meloncha. This deployment also saw him rise to the command of his squad. In the aftermath of this ddeployment, Brother Lachdannan was selected from the hopefuls of the Chapter to be re-deployed to the Deathwatch. Below is his transcribed Apocryphon Oath.
It was during his tenure with the Deathwatch that Lachdannan was groomed for greater command and responsibilities, and he did honour to the chapter during the hundreds of deployments with the Deathwatch. It was his last deployment however, where he lost his eye to the Horror of Lynchos. Although he managed to overcome the beast and help his Deathwatch Brothers kill it, it also coincided the death of his Mentor, Captain Sharroth of the Raven Guard Chapter.
When brother Lachdannan was returned to the chapter, his was immediately assigned to the 5th Companies Honour Guard. It was here that we was further groomed for command, and took over the responsibilities of the 5th Company of his 84th year. To this date, he and his company have upheld the tenets of Rogal Dorn, and stood against the implacable night assailing humanity.

Hope you liked that little break from the norm! I just finished painting up my entry for the Imperial Fists sub-forum over at the Bolter and Chainsword. It was a very simple one, where I had to paint up a character. I just thought I'd write a little backstory as well.
Here are some proper pics of my Captain Lachdannan.
I'm rather happy with how he turned out. A lovely addition to my forces.

Great pose. Loved this model when it was released. |
As always, added his heraldry to his shield for past actions of valor. |
Tried to add some texture to his hair with brush strokes. |
Captain Lachdannan, ready for orders! |

Imperial Fists - More veterans
I have been working on assembling my last few marines for the sternguard/veteran squad. Its taken awhile to get inspiration to make these models, as I was not able to find that creative spark. Thankfully though, it did arrive.
I did also manage to finish the second heavy bolter marine. Again this model was re-purposed from my old Blood Angels army.
I decided to give him the battle honour of marksmanship, which I believe is represented by a bolt shell.
Again I could not use my nice shoulder pads of the molded Imperial Fists symbol, so I had to improvise.
I also used lots of those leather straps, as I had lots of them about, and I also appear to be running critically low on my usual purity seals and such.
I also managed to convert up the last if the squad. I have taken parts from Marine, Space Wolves, Black Templar and Blood Angel sprues, plus whatever else I found in my bits box .
Now I just need to get some yellow on them!
Thanks for looking!

Freebooterz vs Salamanders - Green vs Green Round 2
I recently had a game again against me friends Salamanders. Again this was a 1000pt game, pitting the forces of Kaptin Oddgrum Ded'ey against Vulkan Hestan's chosen forces. Again we played the Maelstrom of War mode (I think, either way the one with the cards), and I was eager to see if my last game was a total fluke, or if I really did get some Ork mojo back.
The Mission
We decided to use the mission cards again. This time, we would get an amount equal to the turn number we were on. So 1st Turn would be 1, 2nd be two and so on. As always the Kaptin needs lots of loot to keep the loyalty of his boyz, so again we had objectives to claim for.
Freebooter Forces of Oddgrum Ded'ey
Kaptin Oddgrum Ded'ey
Power Klaw
Boss pole
Lucky Stick
Twin-linked Shoota
'eavy Armour
Big Mek 'Smee'
Kustom Force Field
Powerclaw
Painboy
6 Nobz
'Eavy Armour
2 Power Klaws
2 Combi-shootas
20 Shoota Boyz
2 Big Shootaz
Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole
13 Shoota Boyz
1 Big Shoota
Nob, Bosspole
20 Slugga Boyz
Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole
3 Zzap Guns
Imperial Space Marines, Salamanders Chapter
Vulcan Hestan
5 Assault Marines
2 Flamers
Drop Pod
5 Assault Marines
2 Flamers
Drop Pod
10 Tactical Marines
10 Tactical Marines
5 Devastators
4 Missile Launchers
5 Legion of the Damned
Sgt, Power Maul
Kaptin Ded'ey issues forth a howl and all the Orks surge forward. His own unit of Nobs however start bickering about the spoils that they will have before the game has even begun, and are bogged down in the copse of trees as a result.
The first mission card I got. Typical I thought.
The Marines move forward to secure objectives. The Drop pod missfored and I placed in the far corner, where the assault marines will take the longest to get into the action.
Kaptin Ded'ey lets out an almighty WAAAGH! and the boys rush forward, crashing into the tactical Squad that moved up. They felled 7 of the mighty Space Marines and took little casualties in return, and move up after them, away from the objective.
Da boyz rushing towards new objectives/loot.
The marines open fire, in an effort to thin the ranks of the orks. The missile launchers reap a heavy toll.
The Legion appear in front of the zzap guns.
Da boyz all rush in, securing objectives as they can.
The shoota boyz take some shots at the Damned, but only achieve some cosmetic damage.
The Slugga boyz assault and chop up the remaining marines, then consolidate back to the objective in the building behind them.
The Shoota boyz assault and wipe out the Damned in close combat. Then start the trudge back to the objective before the Kaptin can see.
Hestan spots an opbjective on the old temple and makes a run for it, but fails to make the distance.
More assault marines come down from the heavens, and flame the shoota boyz in revenge.
The Devastators do considerable damage to the Shoota boyz, even wounding the Nob.
All that's left of the shoota boyz on the right flank after the drop pod marines lit them up.
Final turn, the Kaptin and his crew all make for Hestan and his unit. They assault in and effectively kill all the marines bar the sgt, and the Kaptin cuts Hestan down.
Unfortunately we had to stop at his stage due to time, however it was a clear victory to the Orks (7 to 2 I think). Kaptin Oddgrum Ded'ey attains victory for his krew once more. For certain the forces of the Salamanders have a grudge against the old sea rat. We shall see if they will have their revenge.
I'm planning on getting the big gunz finished next (its just the crew that is left) and then I really want to get my Flash Gitz together, as there is no unit more fitting for this army than that.
Thanks for looking!
Cheers!
