Badab War part 3

Well I managed to achieve my hobby target and get my initial force of Minotuars finished in less than a week! Ready of course for their first engagements against my friends Lamenters.

Here I finished up the last characters for the starting force, Asterion Moloch and Hekaton Aikos.

Great model and very cool pose. Although in real life he isn't standing on some cheese, it is a lot less yellow! Again, apart from dry brushing armour, this was mainly done with contrasts to speed up the painting.

I also had to have a trophy on his base in Lamenter colours. It definitely had the desired effect when I shared it with my friend.
Hekaton Aikos, very cool dreadnough and actually the first ever contemptor I have ever painted I just realised.
The plasma glow was just dry brushing lighter tones of blue to near white.

Really liked the quick scheme and glad I managed to get it done in less than a week. The initial 'bronze' armour was very quick. Retributor Gold Spray, 2 to 3 washes of Agrax Gloss/normal Agrax, dry brush Hashut Copper.

The whole gang of 500 points ready to go. I will hopefully post up the pictures of the game I had with my friend.

I have some ideas on where to expand them, but may leave that bubbling away for the time being as we are probably going to play a few 500 point games for awhile, plus there is some Eldar needing my attention.

Thanks for looking!

Badab War Part 2

Finished another squad for the Minotaurs, some grav caannon devastators. Again quite happy with the speed painting, bases, and my new found confidence with decals. Bodes well for the future.

That is all the infantry done for the first 500pts. Now onto the characters.

Start of a Badab War...

It was time to take a break from the Empire for Warhammer Fantasy. My friend has wanted to do some games set in the Badab War for ages, and now was the time to make a start.

We both picked the armies. My friend went for Lamenters and I went for the Minotaurs.

Since this army used to be my friends, I just copied his scheme and got into it. Quite refreshing to a quick paint scheme like this which also happens to be rather forgiving. I also found a use for my sand from Geek Gaming Scenics which worked well with these models. I also liked it as I have been watching a lot of Mandalorian and Boba Fett recently, and it just so happens this sand fits the dunes of Tattoine rather well.

So here is my first squad, to really get my eye in on the scheme. Nice and quick, as I wanted 500 points of these done rather quickly.

I also applied some decals, which is are for me as I have had a bad history with them. This time I used the Micro Sol and Micro Set, which as you might expect, worked well.
These all have the old Minotaurs shoulder pads from Forgeworld and the limited edition heavy bolter marine.

Quite like how they turned out. Next up will be some devastators.

Thanks for looking.
