WAAAGH!

I have some photo's of some of the Orc's I have been painting recently. I made a list, a crazy list that only contained orc's or bigger models. This list contained no animosity counters, as I found it more amusing to leave that out. I suppose I am trying to beat my record, of my Big Un unit failing all its animosity checks in a game of Warhammer.

Anyways here are the boys I am working on.

 I'm sure you would have noticed that I gave the lower lip some colour. Thought it would be more interesting than just green.

I'm working on these guys next for my unit of Big Un's. The animosity unit filler is most fitting as I have already mentioned that my unit of Big 'Un's suffered animosity in every gane turn of a game I had. The other is a Orc looter. Wish I could get a hold of the pig one though. maybe one day.

I am also working on a new Warboss, which for now I will keep concealed. Watch this space for progress.

Hammerers!

I have been up to soo much hobby it is crazy. It's just I have been very slack when it comes to taking photo's of them, editing them, then uploading them here.

As I have mentioned previously, I have started to paint some Hammerers, as they are a rock hard unit and I need somewhere for my Dwarf Lord to go. I decided not to post any pictures till I have finished the first rank. Well, I have done that so here they are.

I also made a new movement tray, 7 x 5, so they can go very fighty or go for defense and have 5 x 7. When I have finished another rank I'll post that up as well. I think they look quite good so I am pleased with how they have turned out.

I have also painted a few of my Orc's and been assembling some units but I'll wait till I take some more pictures.

Trouble Underground Battle IV

Here is a battle a friend and I played a few weeks ago. It is the 4th in a series of 5 games. We decided (a long time ago) to play through the 5 underground games from the Blood in the Badlands book as something different as opposed to playing just random games. The deal with these games is that if the attacker loses a game, that's it, campaign over.

The first game is the Night Goblins first forray into the underground realm, so pits an assault force of 1500pts against a patrol of 1000pts of Dwarfs. Shockingly I won the first game and nearly won the second (all down to the last roll of the game!).

The second game was where he was poisoning the wells. Which he did in such a fashion that I now had a 100 point disadvantage in every game for the rest o the campaign.

The 3rd game was to stop the Night Goblins destroying some structure pillars. This one was a draw, so he could still continue the campaign, but I lost nothing.

So this here is the 4th game in out little series. There are two big Dwarf Runepillarspraycans, very important structures. This game was a good size, 2k a side with me having an additional 500points that come on as ambushers.For the ambushers, I decided their role would be to claim the enemy held pillar, so I made them a 20 strong unit of Longbeards and a character in there as well.

Dwarf deployment, so good to have it all painted!

Believe it or not, my Dwarfs didn't move much this battle.

The Hoard surges forward!

Those random critters around just turned up for this game. They are actually trolls and squigs jumping about. There are also stalactites that fall, but they were more attracted to my unit of GW Warriors. Go figure.

Blue Moon brew helped the Dwarfs keep their resolve.

The line is coming closer.

Organ gun fires at the goblins. I love that machine in this current edition. It now does more than blow up!

A fanatic gets close to me Iron Breakers. They break no sweat.

My Longbeards arrive! They decided to arrive on the rocky out crop as that Mangler bouncing around the back looks trouble. Also I love rolling lots of DT checks and making long charges.

This here represents a few failed annimosity checks, hence the non movement. Fine by me!

Mangler gets close to the Longbeards. This is where I wish they were Rangers.

Goblins finally flee from the Organ Gun shooting. The rest of the army, being punished by the shooting, decide to consolidate to their half of the field.

Dwarfs cheer! And drink Beer!

Longbeards decide to make a break for the pillarcan. They make a long charge at the giant. Against S7, it doesn't last long at all.

Final turn. The mangler clips my Longbeards and kills a few, while the goblins (and front row of big bosses with GW), attack and cause them to flee. They get away from them though.

So a draw, but a very close one for the Orc's and Goblins! Now are up to the last scenario, where it is 2500pts or 3000pts a side. Should be epic! I should not that throughout this game, we drank some fine Blue Moon brew and had Face Off playing in the background. Just epic.

Marauder Giant!

I've wanted one of these awesome models for a very long time. Ever since I started up my Orc's and Goblin's, I've been itching to get one (even though its probably not a great choice), but the ebay prices were always a little steep for me.

I remember one of the first games I ever had of Warhammer where I was up against my friends Orc's and Goblin's. He had this model and promptly picked up my Dwarf General and stuffed him down his pants. A humiliation that I have never forgotten to this day! But a great memory. Ever since then I have always been a bit nervous around giants, especially with my Dwarfs!

So it was when I saw it on ebay for about $20 AUS, I thought I might throw in a bid and see what happens...

But something went wrong...

No matter what bid I entered, I was outbid straight away, but there was no increase in the bid at all. I didn't know what was going on, and eventually gave it up for loss. Then the next day I got an email saying I won it, for $55 AUS no less, an absolute bargain. So then I waited. After 4 weeks (should have been here in less than 2), I gave it up for loss. Then Yesturday, 7 weeks after it had been posted it arrived. Amazing and meant to be!

So I spent last night assembling this iconic model, and pinning it in places so I could show this wip pic today. Hope you like it.

Here you can see it in the thick of my wip Hammerer's. Great model. Please note the absence of pants.

Tonight I hope to do the base up, and hopefully if the weather is kind, start painting it. Looks like my WAAAGH got a GIANT update....

Still painting Dwarfs...

Took a slight break from the Hammerer's to paint some Slayers. Mainly to vary my palette and so I can now field 30 in a big unit.

As with the rest of my Slayers, these models are all different.

Love the model on the left. Such a sad and worried face. Wonderful.

Still working on the Hammerer's though, and have completed a few, though I'm waiting till I paint a rank before I take pictures.

Starting a new force....Eldar

With a friend of mine getting into 40k, and me quite disliking the idea of Space Marine vs Space Marine, I decided this was a prefect opportunity to get a new project going.

I've like Eldar for a long time. They have great models and a very cool background. Plu sit was a good excuse to do a lot of OSL lighting! Out of all the Craftworld's, the Biel Tan would be hands down the best in my opinion in terms of background. Vengeful and attacking all who threaten the emerging Eldar Empire, they utilize lots of Aspects and have a cool scheme that uses some freehand.

So I got round to collecting some models so we could have some games. I'm pleased to say that already we have had quite  a few with our relevant forces though sadly I have no photo's of them. I have however finished my first Eldar model, my Farseer Auric Stormseer. This is a name I have borrowed from the old Black Library book, Farseer, which is a very good read, if a little old.

So here is my first model. Hope you like!

My current Eldar force comprises of:
Farseer
10 Dire Avengers (So good)
10 Defender Guardians
2 Wave Serpents (Insanely good)
Wind rider squad (6 of them, these guiys are also really good, and they have a couple of shuriken cannons)

Considering how well my Dire Avengers do, I think they will be my next unit to work on.

Hammertime!

I have finally decided to paint my Hammerers. They are a solid choice in the new book (and the old), and I think to reflect my Dwarf Lords status, they would be a good addition. Not to mention a 2 attack, Great Weapon wielding, Stubborn elite infantry unit is also pretty tasty!

This is actually the second time I have attempted to paint them, and the reason it has taken me so long to tackle them again. I remember maybe round 2006/2007, that I started to paint them for my force, but the colours just didn't work and I shelved them and the army. I was quite relucted to paint them again, as I wasn't sure if I could make them work. However, since I have painted most of the choices in my Dwarf army now, I thought its time to give them a go.

So without further ado, here are the test models. Please be kind, or constructively brutal.

With the shield, I tried to emulate the Goblobber, and have that cool wood look to it. To achieve that, I simply got the normal Dwarf shield and turned it around so the wood finish is on this side up. Then I just simply painted the wood grain as normal. I quite like the look, and it is unique.

So having got a scheme I rather like, I'm starting on the next two Hammerers now. I'm hoping I can get a few done before the next Blood in the Badlands Campaign turn, so I can give them a spin.

Grimwald the Surly's Dwarf Throng

I thought it was about time I took another photo my my Dwarf Throng. It is rare that I see it all in one place, as it usually lives in its carry case, and only comes out piece meal depending on what I need for the game at hand.

It has taken a year and a bit now to paint this up. So not a bad effort at all. Of course there is still more things to add/paint up (when is there not?)

All told I think there is about 5k worth of points there. I realised after I uploaded the photo's that I forgot to include the gyrocopters. No doubt they are off doing recon.
