Something a little different

Something a little different today. A friend asked me to paint a base to go along with his Thousands Sons daemon prince. It is a wrecked Space Wolf dreadnought, that has seen better days.

I jumped at the chance to paint it, and also got to try out the Geek Gaming Scenics premade basing (or through Zorpazorp) as that has been on my radar for a long while. I decided to try out the desert one, with a couple of their tufts.

I must say that I was quite pleasantly surprised by the experience and I do look forward to using the product on other models. I would say that the initial PVA needs to be heavy so it can grab the sand better and there were a few sections I had to go over again. That, however, was my inexperience not the product. I do want to try out some of the other ones for Lord of the Rings and other fantasy models.

Quite happy with how it turned out.

Not sure what to work on next as the temperature is getting quite warm and I tend to stay out of the garage.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers.

Dwarf High King

Well, another model finished for my Dwarfs, the Dwarf High King Thorgrim. This model is from 4th edition and I remember hunting it down when I was suitably inspired my Hoodling's Hole post about his Thorgrim. Unlike Hoodling, I am not a great painter of banners and resigned myself to just print them.

I did keep the scheme in line with my Dwarf throng, with a few colour choices as a nod to the classic. Regrettably though, the banner poles had long been lost to the mists of time, so I had to make my own out of brass rod and 6th edition dwarf champion hammer bits. I think it looks okay though.

Anyways, a great model that has aged very well I think. I it was really nice painting dwarfs again.

I do realise the banners look a bit faded, however, that was the best the scan would come out as. Perhaps one day I will return to them, but I am happy to call it there for now and move on.

Thanks for looking!

A long trudge

It has been an age since I have painted Dwarfs, but an impending game of the greatest of all games, Warhammer Fantasy Battle looms, and I just had to finish off a model that has been 70% done for many years. But Dwarfs are as patient and enduring like their mountain holds (the ones that are still theirs anyways).

So I finally finished this organ gun for my army. This now means I have 2 of each war machine and they are all different models.

Glad to have it done. I have the Dwarf High King next on the table. Hoping that will be complete in less than 8 or 9 years.

Cheers!

Return to a little yellow

I have lately been working on many little projects and terrain. I thought I would share some pictures of my latest additions to my Imperial Fists.

I mainly decided to work on these to use in games of Space Hulk with my boys, but they have also seen use in games of Crusade recently. In particular, the terminators were quite a surprise, just by being very resilient. They didn't kill much against Harlequins, however, in the games against my friends Necrons, they were easily unit of the match by killing essentially the whole necron army on their own. Just epic.

So without further ado, here are the terminators. I had to kit bash them from spare parts as I had bought lots of terminators long ago, but I have lost or used many of their parts over the years. As such their wargear is accurate, but bit of a mix up. The sergeant in particular is using some spare parts from the Templar Brethren from my 30k stuff.

Next is my captain in terminator armour. Again primarily for some options in Space Hulk, though is yet to make an appearance in Crusade games yet. Great model, with only a few minor tweaks. I think the head is Sigismund's from 30k and the shield is my usual thing. I have noticed a lot of the new Space Marine stuff tends to have these heraldric shields, which I have had on my force for a long time.

I do have some other updates on my Adeptus Sororitas and terrain to post, so hopefully I can do that sooner rather than later.

Thanks for looking.

From the Webway...

As is customary for me now, it has been an age since I have posted anything here. Not to say I have not been busy. Since the new edition of 40k, I have enjoyed many a game with my friends and have mainly been focused on my Sisters and Eldar.

So I thought I would post an update for my Eldar, having finished quite a few units for them.

The Autarch on skyrunner is made from several kits. The bike itself is from a new skyrunner and a vyper body with a brightlance as the under slung gun. The Autarch himself, is made from the new skyrunner legs, with the plastic autarch with wings, a couple of Drukari banners and an old High Elf Silver Helm lance.

He also had a great first game, where he killed a few Chaos Raptors, supported Warwalkers with their shooting, saved the Farseer from a Hellbrute and finished off a squad of cultists. Not bad.

I also ungraded all my other characters to be on skyrunners. The extra movement, toughness and wounds is very welcome.
I also completed this Wave Serpent to transport my Wraithblades. Unfortunately I haven't got a photo of the Wraithblades handy, so will have to do that next time.

Finally, I just finished these Warwalkers. I cannot stress enough how amazing these guys are in games. The invulnerable save is very handy indeed and they kick out a lot of firepower for a very affordable price. I do have another three to paint up as well.

I have a few other updates to catch up on and I hope to post a but more now.

Cheers.
