I was fortunate to get in a game of 8th edition Fantasy Battle the other night, playing the good ol Triumph and Treachery expansion. We played 1600pts a side with Lizardmen, Undead Legions and of course myself taking the High Elves.
This was to be a precursor to a campaign we are planning to run between the three of us, which we are yet to iron out the details of which, though I know for sure it will take place in the jungles of Lustria.
I won't do a full write up, but will try and remember the highs and lows of the game, of which there were many!
The High Elves, resplendent in their corner. I took the following for this game.
Arch Mage Lv4 Life - Talisman of Protection
Noble BSB - Dawnstone, Barded Elven Steed
Handmaiden of the Everqueen - Reaver Bow
14 Silverhelms, full command
15 Archers, full command
15 White Lions, full command
10 Sisters of Avelorn, High Sister
2 Repeater Bolt Throwers
The Lizardmen from memory took
Saurus Old blood on Cold One with magic items
Saurus BSB
Tetto Echo or what his name is.
Skink Shaman
18 Saurus warriors with handweapons, shield and full command
2 units of 10 skink darts
1 Salamander with extra crew
16 skinks with full command
My other friend took his cool Vampire Coast undead Legions.
Vampire Lord
Vampire hero
20 Skeletons warriors
2 units of 30 zombies (might be more)
Screaming skull catapult
8 Crypt Fiends
Hierotitan
High Elves rush forward with the first turn. Nothing amazing, though my mage did get Throne of Vines off, making the White Lions toughness 7.
White Lions killed a few zombies, they had many more to hack through though. The zombies did well to get though the toughness 7 and laid two brave warriors from Chrace to waste.
The Lizardmen conservatively shuffled back.
The Silverhelms were hexed in the resulting magic phase, this would happen many times in the game.
The Vampire lord with the skeletons moves to flank the White Lions.
Lizardmen get to move first in turn two, charging the Screaming Skull catapult.
The White Lions finish hacking into the zombies, with my Archmage, powered with the Throne of Vines, keeping their toughness 7, and even healing the injured warriors from previous turns. The rest of the army unleashed hell upon the sketeton warriors, twice in a row (last player for turn 2, first for turn 3), and wiped them out, leaving the Vampire Lord vulnerable, and on his own.
The other constant of the battle was the non stop Doom and Darkness cast on the White Lions.
That's all for now. Will post the next installment soon.
Thanks for looking.
